In Kenya, about 20km off Nairobi, we visited an elephant orphanage, and a nursery for the wild elephants. Nairobi’s elephant orphanage is located in Nairobi National Park and can be reached over Magadi Road. Under the keepers care elephant babies are raised here, who have lost their parents due to poaching or other circumstances. We saw the elephant orphans playing while elephant keepers fed them and give us a speech about the animals. First time in my life, I had an opportunity to learns about, visually study the elephant babies and make so many close up shots.

WENATCHEE, Wash. — The newest victim from the Carlton Complex Fire is a black bear cub. Methow Valley homeowner Steve Love says his dog was barking and horse was prancing and snorting to sound an alarm. That’s when he first spotted the 6-month old cub hobbling up his driveway.

He could tell the cub was seriously injured but when he first approached, she made menacing sounds and he backed away. He was eventually able to toss her apricots from a tree and get her some water.

“Later in the evening, she was lying down making pitiful whimpering noises,” Love said. “I got about six feet away, sat down and talked to it in a soothing way, telling it things would be okay. It seemed to make it feel better. It stopped making the noises.”

The next day, a Fish…

29 July 2014

Animal welfare charity, the League Against Cruel Sports, are appealing to the animal loving public of Northern Ireland to support their anti-hunting campaign by attending a rally against fox and stag hunting this Saturday 2nd August, from 2pm at the Stormont Buildings.

Stormont Rally 250The Rally which is being held by Noelle Robinson, Green Party Councillor for Bangor Central in partnership with the charity, will highlight that Northern Ireland is now the only region within the UK that has not introduced a complete ban on fox and stag hunting.

In 2002, the introduction of the Protection of Wild Mammals Act made it illegal to hunt a wild mammal with a pack of hounds in Scotland. Black bear sighting in Vietnam indicates conservation success

The framework of the Carbon and Biodiversity Programme (CarBi) covers an area of more than 200,000ha of forest, along a vital mountain range that links Laos and Vietnam in Southeast Asia.
